Final Film

Target Audience Feedback

To recieve our target audience feedback we asked people to either watch our final product on the mac's or we sent them a video through e-mail. We then got them to answer a survey to find out what they though of our film. We also got some of our target audence to tell us what they thought, not just in the survey.

Lucy- " The jump cuts between the victim and the zombie causes tension"

Ellie- " The soundtracks were appropriate for the specific scenes"

Using our survey we got lots of positive and constructive feedback from our target audience. The survey itself is below, along with the results from the survey.

1.Do you think our film fitted into the genre of horror?

2. Which part of the film did you think was the best?
For this question we got a range of results, but the answer which appeared the most was 'when the zombie disappeared from behind the victim on the swing' over 30% of the responses we recieved back enjoyed this part the most. When asking them why they put that, people responded that it was the part which created the most tension because you didn't know where the zombie was.
3. Which part of the film did you like the least?
For this question people suggested that they would have liked to have seen more violence in the film, they suggested that the part where the zombie attacked the victim could have shown more than it did. We felt that this was very constructive because it helped us when looking at the BBFC rating; because we felt that this suggested that our film didn't show much violence.
4. If this was the beginning of a full length film, would you watch the full length version?

5. Did the sound in the background add to the suspence?

                                      6. Did the last shot of the zombie work effectivly in your opinion?

                                                  7. Did you fully understand the plot of our film?

8. Did you know what was going to happen?

9. Were you frightened by the ending?

10. Was the build up to the zombie character well timed in your opinion?
All the responses we recieved said they thought the build up to the zombie character was well timed, the said that they felt that because you couldn't see the zombie's face very well until the end it created a good level of tension and made them want to watch more to see the zombie.

Overall we are very happy with our target audience feedback, it was very positive and helpful for when we were considering what BBFC rating we should give our final product. We also feel that we reached that audience we intended to target, and that our film fitted well into the zombie horror genre.

Final certificate rating

We have studied our final film and come to the conclusion that the suitable certificate rating would be a 12. The reason for this is that our film contains mild blood and gore content within the zombie’s appearance and moderate violence from the zombie toward the victim. The reason we chose certificate 12 is because the violence is only insinuated and not actually seen. This film would not be suitable to any person under the age of twelve as children may find the zombies appearance distressing.

Planning

Shooting Schedule
Below is a table we have filled out which which indicates the days we will be filming , the props we will be using and for which character. At this point in time we believe we can get all of the filming done in one day , however if there is a problem and it takes longer than this one day we will fill out another shooting schedule to indicate this.

Planning

Storyboarding
Below are the storyboards we designed as a group to show what will be happening in the opening two minutes. The story boards describe the camera movement and sound in each scene.

Planning

Filming Date

The date we have chosen to begin filming our opening two minutes is Sunday 11th March. The reason for choosing this date is that it is convenient for all three of use because we wont be at school and i am not working at my part time job this day. Doing the filming on a sunday allows us the whole day to do it. We have looked into the local weather for our filming date and the results where good , this is shown below.

Planning

We chose two famous film production logos and deconstructed them, we looked at why they used certain images and colours. This will help us when it comes to designing our own production splash.

Planning

Today we purchased Make up for our zombie character.

Planning

Twitter

The three of us set up a twitter account to publish what we are doing and where we are at with our planning and filming. The twitter account allows us to upload pictures aswell.

Research:Target Audience

This powerpoint below concludes the results we got from our survey answers.

In order to research which type of audience is attracted to zombie horror and what influences them to watch the films. We designed a questionnaire. The questionnaire was sent to 40 people overall, 10 male teachers , 10 female teachers, 10 male students ranging from ages 11-16 and 10 female students also ranging from 11-16.
we created a mixture of pie charts and bar graphs to show our results.

This pie chart shows the ages of the people in which we recieved responses from.

The bar chart below shows what most influences people to watch horror films.

The pie chart below shows that the majority of people who filled in the survey would prefer to watch horror films in a group rather than alone.

The bar chart below shows what the people who took the survey thought should happen in the opening few minutes of a horror film.

The bar chart below shows which sub genre of horror films people would rather watch.

The next pie chart shows that the people we asked would rather watch a one off horror film rather than a sequel.

The pie chart below shows that the people in question would rather watch a horror film in the evening rather than the day.

The next bar chart shows whether the people in question would be influenced by their friends to watch a horror film.

Research:Target Audience

As part of my research in to my target audience i got given the task to search two films on Amazon. by doing this i can see what other films or items our target audience is interested in.
Night Of The Living Dead.

When i researched Night of the lving dead it gave me information on what films were bought together and what the customer looks at afterwards. The resluts i found were that customers who purchase Night of the living dead also purchase other films from the 'Living dead' series. These included 'Day of the dead' and 'Dawn of the dead'.

28 weeks later

When i researched 28 weeks later it became apparent that customers also wanted to purchase the first in the two part series '28 days later'. i also found out that customer purchased dawn of the dead, this shows that both films are successful zombie films and are viewed by the same audience.

Research:Conclusion.

Research: Genre, Zombie Horror.

Planning the preliminary:Story boards.

These are the story boards we designed, we designed them to help set out exactly what we were going to do on our preliminary task. This included planning the location, camera shots, sound and how long each clip would be.
